Our Los Angeles outpatient program, often abbreviated as OP, is a form of rehab treatment for substance abuse where patients don’t live onsite at the treatment facility and instead continuing living their lives in the LA area while seeking treatment. Outpatient program treatment methods vary widely and may include sub-type such as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Patients looking for a Los Angeles outpatient program should look at:
- The cost.
- Program location.
- Program schedule and flexibility.
- The type of treatment offered.
- Whether inpatient or an outpatient program sub-type fits your situation better.
It may also be optimal for those who have extensive personal obligations or the inability to take extended time away from work. Before choosing a Los Angeles outpatient program, you should consider what type of treatment or program is right for you and your unique situation.
Type Of Los Angeles Outpatient Program for Substance Abuse Recovery
There are many types of Los Angeles outpatient program for substance abuse treatment, but the three main ones are partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and therapy and counseling. Our Los Angeles partial hospitalization program (PHP) outpatient treatment is mainly for patients who have stable living circumstances, but require more intensive medical monitoring. PHP hours are Monday–Friday from 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is focused on relapse prevention by addressing the underlying causes of the disease. These programs require patients to meet at the treatment center at least three times per week for between two and four hours at a time and sometimes more. These programs tend to be flexibly scheduled around work or other obligations for patients’ convenience. IOP hours are Monday–Friday from 9:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. or 2 p.m.–5:30 pm for three or five days a week.
Therapy and counseling are common elements of our Los Angeles outpatient treatment program, and are generally combined with other treatment methods. These programs help patients find the root cause of substance abuse, learn to salvage relationships and build better coping skills. Some types of treatment include 12-Step programs, group therapy, individual therapy and family therapy, all of which are part of our wraparound approach to treatment.
Why Choose an Outpatient Program for Addiction Treatment?
Our Los Angeles outpatient program is specifically helpful to those with less severe states of addiction, as well as patients who are continuing recovery after being in an inpatient program. Patients in the early stages of addiction or whose addiction hasn’t reached severe stages may find that out Los Angeles outpatient program is the right thing for their situation.
Other considerations where outpatient programs might be the right choice are when patients can’t commit or can’t afford inpatient treatment, regardless of the severity of their addiction. Some patients may also find that they respond to treatment better when they have the support of friends and family, which is easier to incorporate with an outpatient program.
